AOA/SOMOS Faculty Development Lecture Series
SOMOS is proud to partner with the American Orthopaedic Association-Council of Residency Directors to bring a new faculty development tool to AOA-CORD affiliates. Faculty development is critical to continued improvement in surgical education and optimal skill development among front-line orthopaedic surgery educators. The demands of devising a usable faculty development curriculum at a local level is a difficult undertaking with the administrative burdens of a Program Director and inconsistent support.
To support a robust, on-demand, and current resource for education skill development of orthopaedic faculty, SOMOS and AOA-CORD are pleased to provide this collection of faculty development lectures. These presentations were created and reviewed by educators from CORD and SOMOS specifically for the purpose of download and use within an academic program.
Topics include:
- Preparing for the 10-year ACGME site visit
- Optimal Fellowship Education: A Fellow's Perspective
- 3 Key Challenges for Early Career Orthopaedic Resident Educators in the Operating Room (& Tools to Overcome Them)
- Developing a Meaningful Practice as a General Orthopaedic Surgeon in an Academic Setting
- Teaching at a "Remote" Resident Rotation
- Resident Perspective on Faculty Development
This initial offering is authored by SOMOS members currently on active duty with content particularly relevant to military programs.
Because these lectures are accessible only by CORD Affiliates, log in at the CORD website is required. The slides are available in PowerPoint or PDF format. The AOA and SOMOS are committed to providing current, relevant content. Comments and feedback, and requests to provide content, should be directed to [email protected] or [email protected].
